R Street Construction
As part of construction work associated with NEBT DC Water’s contractor will install instrumentation to monitor any potential soil settlement around the R Street NW Construction Site. Traffic and parking restrictions will be in place to support the construction.
Instrument installation work will begin on or about October 2, 2019, and will take approximately two (2) weeks to complete. The street sequence for instrument installation will begin on Rhode Island Avenue NW, followed by 6th Street NW, and end on R Street NW. Work hours are between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Parking restrictions will be in place 24/7 for the duration of this work on Marion Street, R Street and 6th Street NW.
Travel & Parking Restrictions
Rhode Island Avenue NW
- Instrumentation will be placed in the left eastbound travel lane of Rhode Island Avenue NW between Marion Street NW and 6th Street NW.
- Rhode Island Avenue eastbound traffic will merge into two lanes prior to Marion Street and return to three lanes at 6th Street.
- Parking will be restricted on eastbound Rhode Island Avenue between 7th and Marion Streets NW.

6 Street NW
- Instrumentation will be installed in the southbound lane of 6th Street NW between Rhode Island Avenue NW and R Street NW
- Travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction on 6th Street.
- Parking will be restricted on the east side of the 1700-block of 6th Street.

R Street NW Closure and Detour
- Instrumentation will be installed along R Street NW between 6th Street NW and Rhode Island Avenue NW.
- R Street between 6th Street and Rhode Island Avenue will be closed for 3-4 hours.
- Traffic traveling east on R Street will be detoured to the left onto 6th Street, then right onto P Street, and right up 7th Street to access Rhode Island Avenue.

Additional Information
- People who live or work near the affected locations will notice additional construction equipment and personnel as well as noise associated with construction activities.
- Commuters and pedestrians will notice road signs and/or flagging personnel directing them safely around the work site.
- Pedestrians will notice signage for the closed sidewalk restricting access.
